Dead comp? - 2010/05/24 08:08 ok getting disc read error everytime i boot the desk top. Hard drive is about 4 years old give or take 6 months... Gonna be able to recover the data off it or not???

Re:Dead comp? - 2010/05/24 11:20 Pop a live Ubuntu disc in and take a look. I would say that there is a pretty good chance only the boot sector is borked. Could be a whole disk failure too though. Won't know until you look.

Have you ever used a live Ubuntu disc before?

I've got a temporary patch on it right now til i can get enough together to build my next machine, then the c drive from this machine is getting destroyed and thrown away, it's at least 4 years old and ben threw several formats in that time.
